WCXS - A History

WCXS-AM 1480 Arcadia – Fiorini Broadcasting, LLC’s WFLN in Arcadia switched its call letters to WCXS in the spring of 2020. The station’s studio building and transmitter/tower are located at 201 Asbury Street in Arcadia.

Even though it is the city’s only radio station, it targets residents of all of DeSoto County and broadcasts 24-hours a day non-directional with 1,000 watts of daytime power and 131 watts at night.

At the time of the call letter change to WCXS, the station aired a format of mostly satellite-fed news/talk programming but flipped to classic country using the branding Bangin' the Twang and featuring music "from Hank to Garth and everything in-between". Aside from a local morning show, hosted by Arcadia native Mark Anderson, the station uses programming from Audience Bakery Radio.

WCXS also broadcasts on FM with a translator at 104.5.
