WGHR - A History

WGHR-FM 106.3 Spring Hill – On Memorial Day 2014, Spring Hill’s True Oldies 1063 WJQB, which had programmed Scott Shannon’s True Oldies format since 2005, became Hits 106 – playing the same oldies music, just with a new name. The station took on new call letters, WGHR (Greatest Hits Radio), a week later on June 1st.

WGHR operates from 13825 U.S. 19 in Hudson, and is owned by WGUL, Inc. It broadcasts a non-directional pattern with 25,000 watts from a transmitter/tower site east of U.S. 19 on Highway 50 (Cortez Boulevard) near Weeki Wachee.

Names in WGHR history include Steve Schurdell (managing partner-2014), Carl E. “Cem” Maier (general sales manager), ‘Marvelous’ Marvin Boone (mornings, music director-2014), Chelle Fontaine (mornings, production-2014), and Dino D’Addario (afternoons, operations, production director-2014), Gordon A. Lienau (traffic/internet manager-2014), and Kim Katz (financial manager-2014).
