WYMZ - A History
WYMZ-AM 1490 Bradenton - In December 1994, Skywave Broadcasting (Osvado Onoz, president) acquired Bradenton’s then-silent one-kilowatt WJRB-AM 1490 and returned it to the air as adult standards WYMZ. Offices, studios, and tower were located on the city’s Memorial Pier at the north end of 12th Street West.
In January 1995, the calls letters flipped to WWPR (PieR 1490).
Other names in WYMZ history include Allan Hollar (operations, chief engineer), Jack Caron (operations), and Early Williams (sales manager).
