WPDS - A History

WPDS-FM 93.3 Tampa – Blair Broadcasting’s Tampa Bay adult contemporary FM 93 WFLA became soft, non-rock A/C ParaDiSe 93.3 WPDS in 1985.  The new format, featuring the music of artists like Barbra Streisand, Johnny Mathis, and Neil Diamond, was mostly music driven, with some personalities, contests, and public affairs programming.

The station was about two years into the new format when it (and sister station 970 WFLA) was sold to Sconnix Broadcasting, switched format and calls, and became oldies Z93 WFLZ.

Some names in WPDS history include Jed Duvall (PD), Mark Stevens (music director), and Les Howard (mornings; PD/afternoon drive).
