WXGL - A History
WXGL-FM 107.3 St. Petersburg – Since 2004, Tampa Bay’s FM 107.3 has been Cox Radio’s 100,000 watt classic hits station WXGL, 107.3 The EaGLe. It was previously WBBY. Licensed to St. Petersburg, the station plays hits from the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s from studios at 11300 4th St N Ste 300. The transmitter site is at Tower Lake on Burbank Road, east of Oldsmar.
Today (2010) The Eagle programs large blocks of music throughout the day with a long stretch of commercial-free music (107 minutes) every morning starting at 8:30 A.M.
Other names from WXGL history include Shane Reeve (GSM), Dick O’Neil (GSM), Keith Lawless (GSM, then VP/GM), Nick Van Cleve (mornings), John Moore (music director-afternoons), Chad Kellogg (account manager-2007), Jason Meder (sales), and Paul Ciliano (OM).
