Tom Murphy

Tom was from Boston but got his radio start at KKLS in Rapid City, South Dakota as Bob Wayne. From there he went on to do afternoons at Jacksonville’s Mighty WAPE-AM 690 in 1974. When Tampa Bay’s WLCY-FM switched to live jocks in 1976 he signed on for mornings. After another stint at WAPE, Tom moved back to his hometown and worked with WRKO, WVBF-FM, and WEEI. He also served in a news director’s position with the CBS Radio division there.

In 1983 he returned to the air in Jacksonville, first with WAIV-FM, and then WROO-FM, WFSJ-FM, and in 1997, oldies WKQL-FM “Cool 96.9”. He has done work for Jax TV stations WJXT, WTLV, and WJXX, and continues to keep busy with his TJ Murphy Productions doing voice tracking, radio and TV imaging, and narration.
