Dottie Groven

Dottie was from Texas and became WLCY’s “Lolita,” Tampa Bay’s first female deejay. She worked overnights there beginning in 1965 and was the ex-wife of station newsman, Barney Groven, a.k.a. J. Paul Robinson. Her other credits include hometown station KEPO in El Paso, WKLO Louisville, and Pinellas Park’s WFSO where she used the name Jackie Lea.

Dottie left radio to pursue a medical career in the early 1970’s, later remarried, and today (2007) is a respiratory therapist.
