Michael Serio

This Columbus, Ohio native realized early on in his career that traveling around the country looking for his next radio job was not what he wanted to do. What made him much happier was working behind the scenes to make others sound good, and that’s been his major focus since getting into the business.

In 1980, a year after graduating from Dunedin (FL) High School, Michael landed his first radio job as a producer for WWBA’s morning news block, “The Higby-Miller Report.” From there, he moved to 96-KX WCKS (on-air and promotions), Sarasota’s WKXY (middays), WFNN in Clearwater (operations manager), back to WWBA (production), WPLP (traffic reporter and producer for “The John Eastman Show”), WDAE (weekend on-air work), and NewsRadio 970 WFLA (producer for “Gardner & Company” and “The Bob Lassiter Show”).

For seventeen years he teamed with WQYK, starting at the AM-FM combo as a part-time air talent and working his way up to production director, producer for Tom Rivers’ morning show, and network coordinator for the Buccaneer Radio Network. In 2005, he became assistant PD and morning show producer at the bay area’s newest country station, Clear Channel’s US 103.5 WFUS, and then operations manager for Salem Communications’ Tampa Bay and Orlando clusters.

Today (2012), Michael is “back home” at WQYK doing production and on-air work.
