Paul Porter
A former play-by-play and public address announcer in his native Cleveland for the Cavaliers, Paul settled in Tampa in 1984 and was hired by the Tampa Bay Thrillers (remember them?) of the Continental Basketball League. He’s worked at WFLA, WSUN, WPLP and, in the early 1990’s, did a stint as a morning sports talk host for Sportsradio 910 WFNS. He’s also been a correspondent for the Associated Press Radio Network and WFAN in New York, the country’s first all-sports radio station.
Today (2006) Paul reports morning news, sports, and traffic information for Tampa Bay’s WKES 91.1 FM which is then rebroadcast on a four-station network to other Moody Bible Institute stations in the state. He’s also the PA announcer for the Orlando Magic (since 1989), Tampa Bay Lightning, Tampa Bay Storm, and football games for the USF Bulls.
