Shannon Burke

Longtime Central Florida talk personality Shannon Burke began his radio career hosting an evening talk show (and later afternoons) on KJFK-FM in Austin, TX where he had previously been involved in the club business. A 2003 trade magazine ad led him to Orlando’s AM-540 WFLF and an offer of the afternoon drive slot. He took the job, however his sights were on its FM sister station down the hall, Real Radio 104.1 WTKS. That wish was granted about a year or so later when the station dropped Howard Stern and gave him middays.

Unfortunately, his career began to take a turn downward in 2009 with a run-in with the law, resulting in a jail sentence and the loss of his job with Clear Channel. Prior to sentencing, he brokered a show on Saturday afternoons for AM-660 WORL.

After serving his jail time, Shannon returned to the air to host noon to 3PM on AM-810 WEUS in Eustis.  From September 2011 until June 2014, he pulled afternoon drive for Radio IO, a subscription-based Internet station out of Tampa and co-hosted Cox Radio’s “Bubba the Love Sponge Show” on 102.5 The Bone WHPT.

In May 2014, Burke left Bubba’s morning show to begin planning a talk show of his own. “The Shannon Burke Show” hit the air the following August 4th  at 7pm on The Bone and then moved to its regular slot from Noon to 3 P.M. on September 2nd. Cox terminated his contract less than a year later in late July 2015.
