Brent Alberts

In 1966 Brent was only 13 and in junior high when a band teacher took an interest and showed him how to run the board at WSBB in New Smyrna Beach. One night the young radio enthusiast got a chance to do more than just run the board. He actually did the talking when the teacher left the station and headed to the next door bowling alley. A couple years later, with third ticket in hand, he got his first paying job at WOGO, another station in New Smyrna Beach.

Soon he was jocking at WMFJ and WDAT in Daytona Beach, WPAS (as Jerry Kay) in Zephyrhills and Tampa Bay’s first oldies station WCWR (as Ted Webb – not the WFLA Tedd Webb) in Dunedin. He also logged in time at WAIV-FM and WPDQ in Jacksonville (as Fat Albert).

Brent’s other stops included WSB-FM and WKLS 96 Rock in Atlanta, Milwaukee’s WISN (as Jon Kirby), WLPX-FM, and WQFM, and Chicago’s WLUP The Loop. In the late 1980’s he was in Miami as acting PD and Music Director for WGTR-FM (as Big Wally) and WFLC-FM, The Coast, and became PD at Nashville’s WNRQ, The Rock in 1998.

In 2002 he joined Citadel Broadcasting as PD for WLAV-FM in Grand Rapids. While with the company, he was also its director of programming and operations for the Midwest region, as well as day-to-day PD for WMMQ-FM & WFMK-FM/Lansing, and did afternoons on WFMK.

Today (2014), following stints as PD with Greater Media classic rocker WCSX-FM/Detroit and Cumulus Media’s classic rock WXKR/Toledo, Brent hosts classic rock WMMQ-FM/Lansing’s 30-year-old weekend program, "All Request Saturday Night."
