Paul Reynolds

Paul was a Tampa native who graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1946. His interest in radio began when he helped produce a weekly church radio program. After graduation he joined the staff of WDAE before heading off to Northwestern College to major in speech and languages. While there he was chief announcer for KTIS, the school’s radio station.

Returning to Florida, Paul worked for a while at St. Petersburg's WPIN and then landed a job at WTSP where, as a deejay and the station’s Sports Director, he enjoyed his biggest success in radio. His show, Million Dollar Bandstand, was a top-rated weeknight fixture at the station during the mid 1950’s.

In 1955 Paul left radio for a job at a new Tampa TV station that was signing on the air - CBS affiliate, WTVT. At Channel 13 he did a little of everything – he was a booth announcer, did commercials, and hosted a teen dance show. Paul also played “Shock Armstrong – the All-American Ghoul” introducing classic horror movies on Friday night’s Shock Theater, and even Bozo the Clown. After 13 years at WTVT, he decided that it was time to move on so he packed up his family and headed to Atlanta where he continued his lengthy career in television.

Paul passed away in 1996 leaving his wife, Connie, and three children, Carol, Alice, and Daniel.
