Salty Sol Fleischman
Sol spent almost thirty years behind the WDAE microphones, many of them as the station’s Chief Announcer and Sports Director. He was with WDAE from 1928 until joining WTVT in 1957. At Channel 13 Sol was known as “The Dean of Florida Sportscasters” and appeared on the air regularly for many years after he officially retired in 1974 to Anna Maria Island.
Sol died in 1999 at the age of 89.
