Bill Swisher
Bill was weekend warrior Bob Gordon at WDAE in the late 1960’s, his first of several stops in Tampa Bay radio.
In 1972, he joined WFLA, first on the evening shift and then afternoon drive for the first of two stints with the station. Initially using his real name on the air, he switched his moniker to ‘Bill Fisher’ on the advice of a station consultant. His second stint with WFLA was as music director and afternoon drive jock from 1980 to 1982.
Other stops included Gainesville’s WRUF, KIFH in Fort Hood, Texas, and American Forces Network Europe in Frankfurt, Germany.
Bill left radio in the mid 1980’s, moved into public relations work and for 13 years was a media relations officer for Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. When he retired in 2007, he moved back to the Tampa Bay area and settled in Clearwater.
