Al Casey
Al was a radio production wizard, an exceptional commercial voiceover and radio imaging talent, narrator, and radio personality. The list of his programmed stations included a virtual Who’s Who in broadcasting – Bartell, RKO Radio, CBS/Infinity, Young Country, Premiere Radio Networks and more.
He was a true programming legend, instrumental in the success stories of numerous stations. In 1971, he signed on the nation’s first FM Top 40 at WMYQ/Miami. Others included WDRQ/Detroit, KSLQ-KXOK/St. Louis, KCMO-WHB/Kansas City, K101/San Francisco, WXLO/New York, and KOGO-KPRI/San Diego.
In 1985, the veteran programmer left WPGC in Washington, DC to PD Clearwater’s W-Lite 95.7 WNLT, but his stay was only a few years. Chuck Crane replaced him in 1989.
Casey was 60 when he passed away from cancer on February 23, 2004 at his Washington home on Bainbridge Island.
