Roosevelt Moore, Jr.
Roosevelt Moore, Jr., known to longtime WTMP listeners as J. Moore, gained fame in the late 1970s and early 80’s as one of Tampa Bay’s top disc jockeys, fame that carried on into the 1990s. He was also WTMP’s music director.
The 1968 Middleton High School graduate grew up the oldest of ten children in the College Hill area of Tampa and, since 1997, had spent considerable time in the hospital.
Moore passed away October 16, 2011 at his Progress Village home following surgery, about 2½ weeks shy of what would have been his 61st birthday.
