Scott Griffith

Scott Griffith was Scott Stone, Q105’s original 10pm-2am jock, when the station went on the air in 1973. Born in Pensacola, he came from a family of broadcasters. His father was the late legendary sportscaster Don Griffith, who covered Pensacola High School Football, the Pensacola Navy Goshawks, pro wrestling, and Pensacola's professional minor league baseball teams for more than 40 years, and each of his three brothers are, or have been, broadcasters (including brother John, Q105’s original morning man (and host of ‘Griff in the Morning”).
In Vietnam, Scott served with honor in the U.S. Army and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, an Army Commendation Medal for heroism. He was also a well-known radio personality in both Pensacola and Mobile, Alabama, beginning his radio career at the latter in 1975 after leaving Tampa Bay.
Later taking the air name “Scott O'Brien,” Griffith worked at various stations in the Mobile area – WABB, G100 WKRG, 95KSJ, News Radio 710 WNTM, 92ZEW, and most recently Sports Radio 105.5 WNSP. Outside radio he did PA announcing for the University of South Alabama Jaguars basketball and football games, the Senior Bowl, the Mobile Revelers and at Ladd-Peebles Stadium for over 25 years. He coached little league baseball for 12 years and was also involved with numerous local charities.
Scott was 61 when he passed away December 11, 2010 at his home in Daphne, Alabama, after a long battle with cancer.
