WZSP - A History

WZSP-FM 105.3 Nocatee – In 1998, Heartland Broadcasting (Harold “Hal” M. Kneller, Jr., president) launched WZSP on 105.3 FM. The 6,000-watter was licensed to the city of Nocatee and broadcasted a directional pattern using a 400-foot tower at 2789 S.W. Addison Avenue in Arcadia. Studios were located with sister station WZZS midway between Zolfo Springs and Arcadia on US Highway 17.

In 2014, WZSP became La Zeta 105.3 and aired an adult contemporary regional Mexican format targeted to an Hispanic audience 25-54. That same year, WZSP was sold to Solmart Media LLC (Tomas Martinez and Mercedes Soler) which planned to keep its regional Mexican format.

Today (2022), the 4100-watt WZSP's offices and studios, along with Solmart Media headquarters, are located at 715-717 Honore Avenue in Sarasota.
