Karl was schooled at Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama (where he received his ASBA in Business Administration) and the University of Alabama. Early radio jobs included PD and news positions with Brennan Broadcasting (WVOK/Birmingham and WBAM/Montgomery) and WQRK in Bedford-Bloomington, Indiana.
In 1989, he moved to Tampa Bay as director of operations for the Sun Radio Network and program director for its flagship station, Brandon’s WEND-AM 760. Three years later, he joined Metro Networks as assistant director of operations and, later, director of operations, remaining with the company until 2005 when he became a regional director of operations for Clear Channel’s Total Traffic Network.
Since 2008, Karl has been a regional director for Ducks Unlimited, the world’s largest non-profit conservation organization. Today (2010) he’s headquartered in Minnesota and oversees the environmental group’s fundraising events in the Twin Cities and surrounding counties area.
