Bruce Micek has had a rich career in broadcasting, aviation, and real estate. Although born in Chicago, he has spent the majority of his life in the Sunshine State.
During his early years, he was a radio broadcaster and worked as an announcer, sales rep, engineer, and in management. He was the first news and public affairs director for Tampa Bay’s WTOG-TV Channel 44 and later formed Asti Broadcasting, which built and operated numerous radio stations, including Brandon’s first station, AM-760 WEND.
Attracted to aviation since the age of 7, Bruce went on to earn his Airline Transport Pilot certificate and, as a Gold Seal rated instructor, taught hundreds of pilots to fly the Cessna Citation X, the world’s fastest business jet.
The real estate profession was also in his blood. Both of his grandfathers were in the business back in Chicago, so it seemed natural when he decided to become a Florida real estate broker himself in 1991. Along with his wife, Betsy, the two operated a business brokerage in Spring Hill and Tampa through 1999.
Bruce passed away in 2017 at the age of 74.
