Tim Ruskell
Tim was an Army brat, born in 1956 in Sagamiono, Japan, where his father was stationed. However, he spent his junior and senior high school years in Tampa Bay. The long-haired youth went on to college and worked part-time at Budget Records and Tapes and weekend overnights for Sarasota’s WQSR-FM. He graduated from the University of South Florida in 1978 with a degree in communications.
Although hooked on music ever since his brother sneaked him out of the house to see the Allman Brothers when he was 11 or 12, he didn’t make radio or music his career. Instead, it was in the world of professional football, starting as a scout for the CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughtriders in 1983. He moved to the Tampa Bay Bandits of the USFL in 1985 and then landed in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1987.
In 1992 Tim became the Bucs’ Director of College Scouting, and in 2001, Director of Player Personnel. He was a protégé of Rich McKay who, when McKay left to become President and General Manager of the Atlanta Falcons in 2004, went with him as the Assistant General Manager.
Since 2005, when he was tapped by owner Paul Allen to replace the fired Bob Whitsitt, he’s been President of Football Operations for the Seattle Seahawks.
