Jim Lord
Jim (Jim Lord Chaplain) came to Tampa in 1973 as a jock and music director at WDAE. He moved to Ft. Pierce (FL) in 1976 to PD WIRA/WOVV and, by 1981, had worked his way into the GM’s chair there.
In 1986, he bought his own station in the market, Vero Beach’s WGYL-FM. Two years later he sold it and, in 1989, relocated to Colorado where he managed stations for nine years before retiring from radio and moving back to Tampa to run a marketing company.
Jim passed away at a Tampa hospital in May 2009 after striking his head in a fall at home. He was 68.
