Steve Hall
Steve was born, raised and educated in Ohio and earned a Bronze Star for his Army service in Vietnam. He graduated from the Department of Defense Information School, worked with Armed Forces Radio/TV, and was a writer for the Stars and Stripes (Far East) and the MACV Observer.
In 1970, with his military duty behind him, he moved to Florida and found work as an announcer at Dunnellon’s WTRS and as a general assignment reporter for the Citrus County Chronicle. After returning to Ohio, Steve became a reporter/anchor at WAVI/WDAO in Dayton and was soon elevated to news director and operations manager.
Following a move back to Florida, he was named news director for Orlando’s WKIS and The Florida Radio Network (FRN). He also did play-by-play for University of Central Florida football and worked with the Orlando Renegades of the old United States Football League.
Steve was a past winner of numerous broadcast journalism awards, including “Best Newscast in Florida” from the Associated Press and UPI, and worked for 970-WFLA from 1985 until 2019 when the assistant news director was pink-slipped in a round of iHeartMedia staff cuts.
