Mark McGee
Mark grew up in Dunedin in the late 50’s and early 60’s and got his radio training at a broadcasting school in St. Petersburg under veteran WSUN newsmen Paul Hayes and Jay Black. In 1967, he interned with WDAE news director Burl McCarty and then landed his first job a year later at Bradenton’s WTRL AM-1490. The remainder of the 60’s found him in news with WSUN AM/TV, WDAE, and WFSO (news director).
In the early 70’s, Mark did news and talk at WINQ and was operations manager there. He returned to WTRL in 1972 and was hired at Sarasota’s WQSR in 1973. Following a move to Georgia he became a reporter with the Atlanta Journal and Constitution and, in 1981, jumped to television as a reporter, assignment editor, and news director.
Upon returning to Tampa Bay, Mark became an executive producer at Bay News 9. Today (2013), he is the director of communications for LivingFuel, Inc., a nutritional products manufacturer in Tampa. He has also taught martial arts and private classes in health and fitness for the Tampa YMCA.
