WXKT - A History

WXKT-FM 98.3 Arcadia – Gulf Dunes Broadcasting, Inc. (Dennis Hedlund, president) acquired Arcadia’s country WOKD-FM and sister station WAPG-AM in 1989. Studios were at the transmitter/tower site at 201 W. Asbury Street in Arcadia.

In 1990, the FM flipped to classic rock WXKT and its former country format moved to the AM, which became WOKD. The new FM calls were short-lived, however, and the WOKD-FM calls were reinstated in 1991.
