Bernie McGovern

Bernie was born in Brooklyn, New York, and has been writing since the age of 16. When he enrolled in college, it was at the University of Tampa, where by 1958, he was program director at the college’s FM radio station, WTUN.

In the 60’s, he was news director at WSOL, a small Tampa AM, and spent 16 years with TV’s “Championship Wrestling from Florida” with fellow UT alumnus Gordon Solie. His TV work also includes writing and producing several syndicated and network programs.

Today (2010), Bernie works in specialty public relations. The former Tampa Tribune critic and publisher of the Zephyrhills News also edits The Florida Almanac (Pelican Publishing), which has been published annually since 1975.
