George W. Harvey
George joined WFLA as general manager in 1952 after seventeen years with Chicago’s WGN, many of those years as its general sales manager. From 1937 to 1939, he was on loan to the Mutual Broadcasting System since the Chicago station was one of three broadcast outlets underwriting the network.
He was also a pioneer in early television and served on the board of stabilization of rate costs for the industry. As a member of the Chicago Television Council, he served a term in 1950 as its president and another in 1951 as vice-president.
Harvey retired from WFLA in 1971 and passed away in 1994 at the age of 90.
