John Dolive

John was WHOO’s news director in 1969 and 1970 after the station switched from Top 40 to country. Prior to moving to Orlando, he had worked in Atlanta at a number of stations, including WSB, WKLS, WIIN, WLTA, WAKE, WFOM, and WPLO.

After leaving the radio business in the early 1970’s, John entered the television field, starting first as an on-air talent, later as production manager, operations manager, and director of engineering for WFTV Channel 9. Since then he’s worked in Nashville, Atlanta (again), Phoenix, Charlotte, and Norfolk (as the Director of Engineering at a television station), and was President and GM of a non-commercial low power FM oldies station in Lake Wylie, SC.

John moved from Norfolk back to Charlotte when he retired in 2011, then announced in early 2014 that he would be returning to Florida and making his home in Lake Placid.
