Bob Keith

Orlando radio and TV personality Bob Keith was born in nearby Sanford, and moved to Orlando from Minneapolis in 1937. The Coast Guard veteran joined WLOF-AM 950 as its afternoon drive deejay in 1957 and went on to host Saturday afternoon’s “Channel 9 Bandstand” when WLOF-TV signed on the air the following year. He also put in time with WLOQ-FM.

In 1974, he entered local politics and was elected to the Orlando City Commission. However, after losing a re-election bid in 1978 and a run for the Orange County Commission in 1982, he left politics and moved into real estate.

Bob died in 1987 at the age of 59 following a long battle with cancer.
