Dick was a 1955 graduate of Clearwater High School and joined 860 WAZE in 1959 as an announcer and account executive, and eventually was its program director. He left to take a sales position with WBUD in Trenton, NJ in 1966 and, later, left radio to run a securities consulting firm in Levittown, PA, and an antique business and auction in New Castle, PA.
In 1978 he moved back to Clearwater and became vice president for market development and quality control at Citcom Printing Company, a business owned by Chuck Adams and Gene Allen Robinson, former owners of WAZE.
