Amy Newman

Amy is a native Floridian and a graduate of Tampa’s Plant High School where she was a cheerleader and gymnast. Her first job growing up was doing a commercial for Busch Gardens when she was just six years old. Later on, she was a swimming and horseback riding instructor, and camp counselor.

After high school she attended Florida State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications. While in Tallahassee, she taught aerobics and also did some deejay work on the college radio station. Upon returning home, she landed a position in the research department of 95YNF and did some part-time shifts on the air.  She’s also pulled the swing shift at 98 Rock WXTB, and has done radio and TV traffic reports.

In 2001, Amy joined Mix 100.7 WMTX and went on to host the night show. Unfortunately, she was let go by Clear Channel in 2006 after a taped weather update containing profanity accidentally aired on the station.
